A Diwali night

A Diwali night

I guess there are very few readers of my blog, but few (or shud I say just couple of them) who do read my blog I believe are not from India, so I thought let me write something on Diwali. Now what is Diwali? Well DIWALI is festival of light that would be answer of typical school kid if you asked him/her that question and I guess it is truly that. Incase you are wondering why is it so? Well then answer is it has got these few things like crackers & lots of burning crackers up in the sky (are you thing “as if crackers are not burnt”), colouring light around house (just like Christmas) and one thing which I like most small diya’s ( diya’s are small lamp made up of soil, where we put small cotton piece and light it up and yes we also put some kind of fuel so that lamp keeps on burning whole night till morning) that are burning at door step & windows and various other places of any house you can see. I like those small diya’s very much :). In simple words it’s like our Christmas like west celebrates it. So I guess u understand that this festival is of greet importance to everybody over here. There are couple of special days associated with Diwali one is Diwali then one is Laxmi puja & dhan-teras and new year.
Diwali is last day of our year, y do I say our year because we have one our own calendar that is different from normal calendar that we all use these days. I guess we all use Roman calendars while calendar I m referring to here is Hindu calendar. I hope its not getting confusing to you all readers, bcoz once I tried telling to one of my American and she got confused (I wondering y, its not that tuff to understand) so simply speaking we have our own calendar that we use for referring our festivals and other stuff (we refer to Hindu calendars when we are looking for date for getting engaged or marriage, or for opening new business or shop or anything new) otherwise in normal course of time we refer to roman calendar. So Diwali is last day of our year so we are celebrating it just like it is 31st Dec. while Dhan- teras I believe is day before Diwali on this day we worship goddess wealth, so most of people have pooja (ceremony of worshipping goddess wealth). So then we have New Year that New Year day as per our calendar so people visit each others place and wish them happy New Year. So couple of other thing one can associate with Diwali is Sweets, sweets & loads of sweets :D, we Indian’s love sweet like anything (although there are few exceptional who are like “oh sorry I can’t eat too much of sweets it has got calories and stuff”). Other thing that one can associate with DIWALI is gifts & of course if you’re working your company is mostly likely to declare bonus (I got bonus :) ).

So that’s Diwali for you guys.

Apart from all that work is pretty much ok now pressure is building up on all of us and my uncle & aunt ,her so-called daughter are here from usa. We both don’t talk too much, seems something is wrong cant figure out what? She hardly talks with my parents too, well I guess either she doesn’t want to keep relationship with us or her adopted mom has told her not to speak with us or something else, no clue what is real reason. I was waiting for this moment since long time and finally when it has come, things doesn’t seem to go as it should . Anyway she is getting married in May-06 of course in USA, my best wishes to her for that.
